I suggest a minimum of 6 months notice for wedding cakes. May, June, July and August are typically my busiest months, therefore it is advisable to place your order as soon as possible.

CAKE TASter boXES & Consultations

When choosing your wedding cake, the most important factor is of course the taste! Therefore I always start the booking process with a cake tasting! A box of 6 of my most popular cake flavours are delivered straight to your door via Royal Mail for you to enjoy over a weekend in the comfort of your own home, with a cup of tea, or even a glass of fizz! You may even wish to include other members of the bridal party and make it an occasion!

My Taster Boxes are issued in batches throughout the year. Please contact me to find out when my next issue is. These are usually during the Autumn and Winter months.

A small ‘Save the Date’ fee of £25 will cover production and postage of your Taster Box and will also hold your date in my diary until we meet for our consultation. This fee is deducted from your final quote should you choose to book with me.

I offer a consultation for every couple at home in my kitchen. The appointment is made for a time to suit you, which does include some evenings, and also weekends. The consultation usually lasts around 30-45 minutes and is the perfect opportunity for you to see where your wedding cake will be baked and decorated.

I ask that you bring with you any images of wedding cakes you’ve seen that inspire you, along with details of your theme, colour scheme and any pictures you have of your dress or flowers that you have chosen. I can draw lots of ideas and detail from this information and together we can visualise your ‘dream cake’.

Following your consultation, I will email you my quotation for the design and ideas discussed, along with a sketch of the proposed cake design for you to keep.

Should you be unable to meet for a face-to-face consultation, other options such as Zoom, telephone call or email conversations are available.

Portioning

During your consultation, I will ask you whether the cake is to be served as a dessert, or with coffee; this will determine the portioning size and how many people the cake is to feed.

I generally recommend that wedding cakes be cut in the following grid portion:

Dessert Portion: 1" x 2"

Coffee Portion: 1" x 1"

For celebration cakes, I recommend 1” x 2” portions.

Delivery

Wedding Cakes can be delivered throughout Northamptonshire and surrounding counties.

You are also welcome to collect smaller wedding cakes from my home. If you choose this option, it is then your responsibility to ensure the safety of the cake until it reaches its required destination. I cannot be held liable for any damage to the cake after it has been collected. Assembly and storage instructions will be provided by me at collection.

Health & Safety Advice

Any allergens in your cake will be clearly labelled on the box. Please check these carefully.

If you have ordered a tiered cake, please be aware that there will be a thin cake board between the tiers and wooden or plastic dowelling rods in the bottom tiers for support. These should be removed before cutting. Once you separate the tiers, you will see them sticking out of the cake; they can be easily removed.

Please ensure that any non-edible decorations are removed from the cake before serving.

If fresh flowers are being used on the cake it is the responsibility of the florist to determine flower safety and safe food practices.
